hi, i’m adam.

I'm 18, a full-time student, and, since I was 7 years old, a part-time developer interested in creating an impact on education policy through computer science.

Today, I'm studying at CMU's SCS and working with incredible people interested in creating an impact on the world.

Away from my desk, I'm probably taking photos, hanging out with family and friends, or playing guitar.

Feeling Scratchy

Bored on a sunny Lebanese summer day, I asked my father for something to do, and was introduced to Scratch. Here, I learned so much about the essential foundations of programming and computational thought. Little did I know that the rest of my life would be spent in the world of code.

What I learned from Scratch was that I loved to create things, and that I loved to learn. I created so many games and animations, and I was hooked. Sprites became a part of my life, and I was in love with the idea of creating something from nothing.

Snakes in Boots

In 2015, I completed a course from Pierian Data on python and learned everything from the ground up. I built so many programs and wasted so much time on IDLE creating adventure and novel games. I fell in love with creating something from nothing. I was hooked.

Leaving what felt like an impractical platform like Scratch to Python was a big step, but I am happy to have taken it. I learned so much about building and creating, and I am forever grateful that I took that step and pushed myself further than I thought I could go.

App Dev

Around 2017, I developed a strong interest in app development, and to that end, I learned Swift, Flutter, SwiftUI, Bootstrap, and Dart. In December of 2019, I landed a keynote presentation at Apple's Today@Apple program as a guest speaker talking about my journey into iOS app development and helped audience members create their very first app!

I also founded the IDJ, an online platform of iOS developers who help each other get started and answer any questions they might have. I learned so much about leadership and inclusion while fulfilling that role.

Finding Moira

During quarantine, I realized that my true passion was Education. I wanted to help spread the knowledge and skills I accumulated over years of hard work and dedication to as much people as I could.

I joined dozens of online communities on Discord and started teaching a class about the foundations of programming It was an incredibly rewarding experience. Education is the future, and I'm eager to leverage Computer Science to make an impact on it.

What's next?

In 2024, I was met with an incredibly tough decision: Carnegie Mellon or Harvard. This decision pushed me to deeply consider what I wanted from higher education and what kind of environment would best support my goals. CMU was renowned for its cutting-edge research facilities and strong focus on technology and innovation, which aligned perfectly with my interest in pursuing a career in CS. Harvard’s rich academic tradition and its vast network of distinguished alumni offered a different set of advantages.

Choosing Carnegie Mellon wasn't easy, and I grappled with the idea of missing out on the broader academic experience Harvard offered. However, CMU's leadership as the #1 CS program and the chance to work directly with leading researchers ultimately swayed me.

What I've been a part of

KEYNOTE SPEECH

Today@Apple

During December of 2019, I had the honor of being the guest speaker of Apple's Today@Apple program where I presented about my journey as an app developer and how I got into Swift.

I learned that I loved to teach!

iOS APP

Madrastie

I completed a six-month internship with Massarat, a Lebanese startup who are the #1 aggregator of K12 data. I was responsible for migrating APIs, creating GUIs, and providing insights as a current student.

NLP + GPTs

gl.ae

I completed an internship with Global Learning, a startup that provides tools to K-12 teachers.

I worked on the NLP and GPT team closely with teachers in predominantly non-English environments to deploy a suite of pedagogical tools.

BOOTCAMP

Python Club

In 2018, I created an organization to teach children about Python.

Our approach made coding both fun and engaging for kids.

This organization is still introducing young children to CS!

STARTUP

dypo.org

The Druze Youth Progressive Organization aims to provide Druze youth with the resources they need to succeed.

I started this project a few years ago but have now created an impact across many Druze schools inside Lebanon.

What I do

Development

Ever since I was 7 years old, I knew that I wanted to build. Since then, I have worked on being formless; I have learned over 15 languages and frameworks and have most importantly developed an ability to think both analytically and critically.

Leadership

I'm obsessed with creating a positive impact. When I dedicate my attention and time to a project, I try my best to step up and help my team come as close to perfection as possible.

Collaboration

I learned that in order to create impact, it's necessary to be able to work with people and empathize with other view-points. I try to be as inclusive as possible to create something which can be appreciated by everyone.

Curiosity

In our ever evolving world, I learned that its incredibly important to be curious. Curiosity is what fuels progress and development in our world and I've tried as hard as possible to hone my curiosity and retain child-like wonder.

Innovation

In order for us to be able to create impactful products and services, we need to be able to come up with creative and unique solutions. That's why I work really hard to think outside of the box to come up with creative and impactful solutions.
